he touches me thus
bodies slick sweet musk rises
skin warmed love fulfilled
little blue house
were we lived and loved
three fine sons
came and went
time passed so quickly we mourned
our little house gone
time and again
he had done the same thing.
my eyes closed,
his sensual movements
and slow steady breathing
told me what I did not need to see.
the strike of a match
the faint smell of sulfer
deep inhale and
it is as it always is.
after, our bodies, locked, embracing
we become one movement
with pounding hearts.
after, limbs entwined, slick glowing
soft moans, gentle groans.
after,we reaching higher and higher
till all is spent.
laying there were passion is done.
both as empty
as once our wine glasses were full.
to once more be filled.
smoke rises slowly over our bodies
covering the sweetness of our labor.
he turns to me
his intense greens eyes
sedated for now.
planted with springs gifts
nursed by him
green shoots came forth aplenty
the promise to late
maggie a small red sheparerd
was his shadow in life
he lead she followed.
her sweet brown eyes
watched every move he made
always by his side.
maggie thought she was a cat
she sat on our laps
and slept on our bed.
each night he returned from work
she lay down at his feet
waiting for a good rub.
winter found her
before the fireplace
her deep brown eyes unknowable.
maggie loved snow
romping through drifts
with a black nose cold, eyes bright.
she lived for many years
and when it was time
he took care of it.
we never spoke of it again
he, moving a little slower
was never the same
his little shadow
guard dog, loving pet
he too now is gone
from a the blue house we shared
I miss them both.
